
pregnancy and pilates
Hi i just found out Im pregnant, Im about 5 weeks and I go to pilates. I went last night and the instructor adjusted my workout for me. I have pretty sore mucles on the right and left side of my abdomen. Im sure its just because these muscles were worked, but have any other women done pilates while pregnant and was it okay?

I did pilates right up until the day before i gave birth – its fantastic for you!
I would mention the pain to your instructor next time you go but i would more then likely say its the normal pain you experience when your uterus is growing. As my doctor explained the pain to me, of course there will be pain, your uterus is growing from the size of a pea to a watermelon so it makes sense really.
I felt that pain a lot early on in my pregnancy and then on and off in patches throughout the rest of my pregnancy and at times it can be very painful. If in any doubt though go and get checked out from your doctor – its better to be safe then sorry.
